I'm through with terrorism.
As mentioned in a previous post, George W. Bush's claim to a legacy is based in the fact that he has kept America safe since 9/11.
You know my opinion on that.
So, as public debate turns to Bush's legacy, the general conservative view is this is why he should be considered a successful president. In the media, rather it is newspapers, television, radio or blogs, the conservative pundit takes this claim and pushes that President Obama must maintain the Bush policies or another attack will be all his fault.
Fucking bullshit.
I apologize for the language but that's my best response. Nobody hows exactly how, if, when, or why there may be another attack on our country. Sure, there is plenty of speculation, and plenty that can be done.
But, to put the blame of a possible terrorist attack on Barack Obama, before it even happens, is absolute nonsense (Further proof of the neocon infatuation with pre-emptive strikes). Conservatives blamed 9/11 on Clinton's failures. In reality, the failure to prevent 9/11 falls at the feet of Bush's administration as well as Clinton's. If another attack happens, it will partially be the fault of the Obama administration and it will also partially be the fault of the Bush administration.
Terrorism should be debated with plenty of vigor. But, it should also be debated with clear heads and rational thinking. Both sides of the argument often have valid points but overshadow them with unnecessary rhetoric about both fear and morality.
The one thing you cannot allow terrorism to do is control your life. Because, then it does not matter whether a plane is flown into a building, those who wish to terrorize you have already won.
So, I will not let terrorism control me.
Bottom Line? I'm done with terrorism.
