Two Things

Just a couple of things that I have been thinking about...

First, the stimulus package. Many scream that they have followed all of the rules. They should not not have to pay for those who did not follow all of the rules. If I live responsibly and my neighbor does not, that is his fault, not mine. While I generally agree that everybody should take care of themselves, "we" are not paying for the bill. The United States will need to borrow money to pay for the stimulus. So, in reality, China is paying for your irresponsible neighbor.

Second, living in Charlotte, one of the biggest complaints I hear is that the city does not get its fair share from the state government. Sort of a Charlotte/Raleigh rivalry. A big issue is highway funding as cited in this article from the Charlotte Observer. Here is my problem with these complaints. The people responsible for bringing state money to Charlotte are the state representatives and state senators from Charlotte. If they do not do their job, they should be questioned. But, those who complain likely do not even know who their elected officials are. They just choose to blame Raleigh.

That's all.
